Software Projects

I've played with writing software ever since my father brought home our first computer (1983). Since then I've come up with a few silly little things that others might find useful.
Laptop SETI Manager
A one-page perl script for use on a laptop running Linux with APM compiled into the kernel where you want to run SETI@Home. Usually you have to start/stop setiathome manually, or you'll drain your batteries in no time. With Laptop SETI Manager, you just start lapsetiman and forget that it's there (i hope).
Just add "nohup lansetiman & >/dev/null" to an appropriate startup script (ie. /etc/rc.d/rc.local). Last updated Dec. 3, 2002.
PalmOrb
My hacked version of J. Robert Ray's PalmOrb. PalmOrb emulates a Matrix Orbital LCD display on your PalmPilot. I added some buttons to the screen for use with an in-car MP3 player I was working on at the time.
